The Accelerate! Program saw us provide scholarships for a number of extremely worthy candidates in the past few years.  The winner has always traditionally been announced at the ICON conference, however, recent events have meant we couldn’t do that, so the program has been put into lockdown, so to speak, until we emerge on the other side.  It’s an amazing program which I am so disappointed we’ve had to temporarily suspend, but my fervent hope is that we will re-introduce it in 2022, bigger and better than ever – so watch this space!!!

ACCELERATE  Program 2018

We are thrilled to announce that Carly Evans, Baker McKenzie, won the 2018 ICON/McLoughlinBall ACCELERATE Program.
The entries were of a very high standard and came from across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, which was particularly pleasing. The judges were unanimous in their choice and Carly’s submission was an outstanding and very worthy winner.
Carly will be receiving a post graduate course specialising in professional services marketing and BD from Cambridge Marketing Institute in the UK and endorsed by the Certified Institute of Marketing UK – well done, Carly!
Here’s what Carly has to say about the course:
Thanks to ICON and McLoughlinBall, I have been given the opportunity to complete a Diploma of Professional Services Marketing accredited by the Cambridge Institute of Marketing. I am undertaking the diploma by remote learning through the Cambridge Marketing College.
I am currently enrolled in my first of three subjects, Strategic Marketing, which teaches how to take a strategic approach in marketing planning to achieve competitive advantage. In a nutshell, the modules cover learning how to undertake a situation analysis of the internal and external environment, planning and developing a strategic marketing plan, and implementing the plan including measures to control implementation.
So far the studies have been informative and helpful to my current role and professional development more broadly. While a lot of the literature around marketing relates to products, the webinars are tailored to professional services and are helpful in linking product marketing concepts to services. I have access to a number of helpful learning resources (at times, what seems like an overwhelming amount!) to assist and support my studies, including webinars, course materials, additional readings and videos, and assignment and exam guide.
The program is also flexible and has allowed me to study at my own pace, which has been helpful for me in juggling my full-time work and sporting commitments.

What is ACCELERATE?

The ICON/McLoughlinBall ACCELERATE Program offers ICON members the opportunity to win a scholarship for a one year post graduate course in professional services marketing, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK and endorsed by PSMG, our ICON affiliate in the UK.
The Program is open to all members of ICON (either through a firm membership or individual membership) who work in a marketing, business development or communications role in a professional services firm in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore. Applicants at all levels of their career are invited to submit a response, regardless of their seniority as there are three courses to choose from, depending on your seniority or existing qualifications – your choice!
